Non-Profit NGO "Bozur"

Citizens’ Humanitarian Association (CHA) »Bozur« - Smederevska Palanka is a non-profit NGO, registered on December 25th 2000, at the Federal Justice Department in Belgrade no. 3/1-735/2-2000-07.

CHA “Bozur” became operational on February 5th 2001 and has exclusively displaced persons from Kosovo and Metohia for its users.
Association “BOZUR” is trying to secure and alleviate its users’ difficult position by contacting foreign funders and people of good will.

At the moment, Association “Bozur” enlists 314 families with 1256 family members in all categories: single parents, people with heart and kidney diseases, diabetics, people with chronic illnesses, people in need of care and help from others, psychiatric cases, people using social welfare.
Association’s objective is THE RETURN TO OUR HOMES FROM TIME IMMEMORIAL.

Association “Bozur”, as the only association of this type in Smederevska Palanka municipality territory, other than help in improving all aspects of quality of living (material and non-material), has also the following objectives: keeping in touch with non-displaced persons, leadership in cultural and creativity activities, keeping the cultural and historical heritage, as well as leading social activities.

Cooperation with other organizations

For the purpose of providing humanitarian aid to displaced persons, the Association cooperated with the following organizations:
• “CRS”- Belgrade,
• “IAN”- Belgrade,
• “IOCC”- Belgrade,
• British organization “SAVE THE CHILDREN” - Belgrade,
• “CARITAS”- Belgrade,
• “SAVE SERBIAN CHILDREN”- California,
• “ALLIANCE OF JEWISH COMMUNITIES”- ceded by Smederevska Palanka Refugees Commission,
• Monthly distribution of medications through “IRC” - Belgrade

We cooperate and are on good terms with Social Services Center in Smederevska Palanka Refugees Commission for the purpose of dealing with all IDP issues that are in these institutions’ domain.
We communicate with all the relevant factors that could have any information necessary for resolving problems of persons displaced from Kosovo and Metohia.

Activities

The Association had organized three distributions of hygienic packages, four distributions of baby-packages, two distributions of food packages, clothing distribution, medical packages, Pampers diapers. One of our activities was the distribution of firewood.

We have constant activities in cooperation with IRC – like free monthly distribution of medications for children up to 18 years of age and for people who are over 60 years old. This activity lasts for over a year now, and shall be continued. Other than distribution of medications, we arranged (also in cooperation with IRC) visits of an ophthalmologist, free examination and free glasses delivery. For the Serbian New Year 2002 we arranged and organized the distribution of New Year presents with the appropriate performance in which the children participated. All this was covered by the local TV station cameras.
Association works on organizing of vizit-visits in cooperation with UNHCR. Vizit – visits are organized for municipality Istok, Pec and Klina area.

Other than this, we would like to emphasize that the Association “Bozur” possesses an electronic database for all displaced families settled in the area of municipality of Smederevska Palanka. The data refers to each user with all personal data, including date of birth, qualifications, occupation, property left in Kosovo and Metohia, as well as whether they are interested in returning, under what conditions and in which place.

The Association completed the project “CITIZENS’ RIGHTS” which lasted for 4 months, with CRS as its partner.
Current project “SUPPORT OF VOLUNTARY RETURN OF INTERNALLY DISPLACED PERSONS TO KOSOVO AND METOHIA INTO THEIR PRE-WAR HOMES”, which is in progress, is also implemented with CRS, and will last until October 15th.

IOCC
